September is National Hunger Action Month. Gervasi Vineyard and The Twisted Olive have teamed up with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank to raise funds for local communities in the Akron, Canton and surrounding areas with the “Kick Hunger Challenge”.

During the month of September, visit GV Destinations restaurants and venues and patrons will have the opportunity to add $1 donation to their bill for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank toward battling hunger. For every $1 donated, GV Destinations will match the donation with another $1. The following GV Destinations venues are participating in the fundraiser: The Bistro, The Crush House Wine Bar & Eatery, and The Marketplace Boutique Gift Shop, all located at Gervasi Vineyard in Canton; the sister property restaurant, The Twisted Olive located in Green.

“Many families don’t know where their next meal is going to come from.  That’s why we feel it’s important to partner with and support the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank in this endeavor during National Hunger Action month.  Every dollar generated provides four meals.  And GV Destinations will match those dollars to go twice as far for families in need,” said Scott Swaldo, General Manager for GV Destinations. “The Swaldo family and team members at all of our venues are so passionate about raising money and supporting this cause.”

“Each day, the Foodbank is distributing approximately 110,000 pounds of food to its network of partner hunger-relief programs like food pantries and hot meal sites,” explained Dan Flowers, President and CEO of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. “This promotion and your support make it possible to continue to reach the magnitude of community members we do. We are in awe of the generosity and passion of the team at Gervasi Vineyards, and we feel so fortunate to be able to partner with those in our community in this cause.”

This fundraising promotion will last through Saturday, September 30th.  The goal is for GV Destinations to raise a minimum of $10,000 for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank in partnership with local fundraising.

In addition to the Kick Hunger Challenge promotion in September, Gervasi Vineyard will continue to work with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank in partnership with a canned food drive in December.  The partnership will extend in to January and February 2018, both locally and nationally, with the Taste of the NFL.
