Crafted Artisan Meadery claimed a gold medal at the prestigious 2014 Mazer Cup International Mead Competition. The Mazer Cup is the largest commercial mead competition that recognizes the most outstanding meads from around the world. Winners were announced Saturday, March 22nd at the Boulder Outlook Hotel at the competitions location in Boulder, Colorado.

Crafted was recognized in the “session” mead-style category for its Pollinator. Pollinator is a sparkling, dry hopped and spiced blackberry mead that Crafted launched a short four months earlier as their first foray into carbonated meads. It is available in both 500ml crown capped bottles as well as on draft and weighs in at 6% ABV.

“We are obviously very proud given the international nature of this competition as well as with the number and quality of entries,” said Crafted owner Kent Waldeck. Crafted, who is in their second year of business, isn’t new to recognition having taken a silver medal with their Tupelo Mead at the same competition last year. “Pollinator was created to help bring awareness to Colony Collapse Disorder and hopefully this recognition will help further that along,” said Waldeck. “We have more sparkling meads in the works and take this as a positive sign of things to come.”

Crafted is currently distributed in five states and is preparing to announce an increase in their distribution footprint into even more states and major metropolitan areas in the coming months.
